Astros accidentally leak preview of new logo, uniforms

Man, the Astros just can’t do anything right, can they? The newest American League team is getting ready to unveil a new look complete with a new logo and uniforms next month, but they accidentally gave us a sneak preview thanks to a graphic (above) on the team’s website inviting fans to come to the launch party.

Playing with the brightness and exposure settings gives us a good idea of what the new threads may look like:

As you can see above, the new uniform will feature orange piping,  ”ASTROS” appears across the front in navy and orange block lettering and also a player number on the lower side below the script. Here’s a closer look:

What about the hat, you ask? Well, it appears to be navy with an orange bill and features a logo similar to the classic 80s Astros cap logo shown inset on the graphic.

So it looks like the Astros will be the latest team to go with retro style unis, which definitely isn’t a bad thing. It seems like that’s the new trend in baseball, the Blue Jays, Orioles, and Mets all did the same last winter. I certainly don’t hate it.

What are your thoughts?

All the changing uniforms, hats an logos, are following the best team in mayor leagues: New York Yankees. They never changed uniforms..

Change everything. Ubis, caps, attitude and emotional make-up. Also how about changing the ballpark name to The Park in Houston. Ditch minute maid. Lousy juice and crummy name.

Glad to see the return to the orange and navy. Have never liked the most recent/current uniforms. Look forward to seeing them in full release with alternates and roads.

There is no way that was a mistake. They gave the fans as subtle a hint as they could get away with without violating MLB rules. They knew everyone would run that pic through Photoshop or Irfanview. That’s why the jersey logo is still blacked out.

GIVE ME A GOOD TEAM..IN ANY KIND OF UNIFORM

    • http://Enteryourwebsite... BigDaddy J

Amen to that. When you go to rebuild a team you might want to keep a couple of good players to rebuild with. I stopped watching when they gave up Hunter Pence.

  • porkchop

Houston has been rebuilding since they were the Colt 45′s I guess the American public is gulible to believe it is about winning not profit to the owners.

You sound like an idiot. walk away kid.

The Astros lost me as a fan the moment the new ownership agreed to have the team play in the American League.

  • http://Enteryourwebsite... Jim

The Houston Astros new owner couldn’t or wouldn’t be allowed
to purchase the team unless they agreed to move the team to
the American Leagues’ Western Division. Research before you
post some idiotic reason for not being a fan any longer. I’d
be willing to bet you were never a real fan of the Astros
    anyway.

    • http://Enteryourwebsite... Leslie

So agree with Jim. Any “fan” who thinks that any new owner had a say so in NOT moving the team to the AL is an idiot. That decision was made before Mr. Crane purchased the team and any new owner would have had to move the team to be approved. Instead of griping about the move, find something more constructive to say. Watch the young guys in the farm system…and look at what Mr. Luhnow crafted in the 2012 Draft. Change is coming…and it looks promising to me.
