Rob Gronkowski Inactive For Fifth Straight Week

After practicing last Friday and continuing to work in a limited capacity throughout this week, hopes were high for Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski to play this Sunday versus the Jaguars in Jacksonville.

But alas, the broken forearm that has kept Gronk sidelined the past four weeks has also rendered him inactive this weekend, the Patriots announced today.

That makes quite a bit of sense considering the 2-12 Jaguars are not much of a formidable opponent and giving their most valuable redzone target an extra week to rest could make a big difference for his health down the stretch.

It’s no certainty, but Gronk is expected to return for the team’s final regular season game against the Miami Dolphins at home next week, giving him one game to tune up before the playoffs begin.
