Netflix Ups The Ante With Exclusive Political Drama “House Of Cards”

Netflix is getting ready to debut a brand-new exclusive original series next month entitled “House of Cards.” Kevin Spacey stars as Francis Underwood, a ruthless Washington congressman who gets crossed and is forced to take drastic measures to get what he wants.

In addition to Spacey, the impressive billing also features Robin Wright, Kate Mara (as well as her fantastic boobs) and Corey Stoll, not to mention the directorial lead of the great David Fincher (Fight Club, Seven, The Social Network, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo).

The show drops on February 1, 2013, when all 13 episodes will be made available for streaming via Netflix’s services.

I’m not a huge fan of Kevin Spacey or even politics, but this series looks to bring the heat and could certainly make premium cable networks such as HBO and Showtime feel some added heat from Netflix’s presence. Don’t forget, Netflix also scored the exclusive rights to the television return of ‘Arrested Development,’ with new episodes likely available for streaming sometime this Spring.

If “House of Cards” is any good, I’ll likely end up being a useless, disgusting couch dweller for a few days while I binge-consume the series’ inaugural season in its entirety. Until then, the below trailer is all we’ve got.
