After a month and a half of speculation, outfield prospect Jackie Bradley Jr. has made the team and will start in left field on Opening Day, according to the Red Sox Official Twitter. Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe also reports that he will wear #44.
Ironic that – barring another transaction – Bradley will be defending in front of the Green Monster after having a monster spring training. He left Fort Myers with a .419 average, 2 home runs, 12 RBI and 13 runs.
Mauro Gomez is the one designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man Roster for Bradley. The Red Sox also placed designated hitter David Ortiz and pitchers Franklin Morales and Craig Breslow on the 15-Day Disabled List, according to NESN’s Jenny Dell.
