Bruins Trade For St. Louis Defenseman Wade Redden

NHL: St. Louis Blues at Dallas Stars

Just before the NHL trade deadline passed, the Bruins pulled the trigger on St. Louis Blues defenseman Wade Redden.  The 35 year old veteran is on a one year contract and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. In return, the Bruins send the Blues a seventh round draft pick in 2014.

Redden was the second overall draft pick in 1995 and spent the first 11 years of his career with the Ottawa Senators, playing 4 seasons with Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara.  In his 13 seasons in the NHL, Redden has 455 points including 108 goals, but just 5 points and 2 goals so far in 2013.  The two time NHL all star may not be the player he was in Ottawa anymore, but he adds some much needed depth and experience to the Bruins defense.
