Bailey Sent To Disabled List, Breslow Activated

MLB: Detroit Tigers at Boston Red Sox

After dealing with bicep soreness for the past week, the Red Sox finally placed Andrew Bailey on the 15-Day Disabled List. Bailey has not pitched since April 28 against the Houston Astros. Craig Breslow has been activated from the disabled list to fill Bailey’s slot on the roster.

Bailey has only allowed two earned runs in 12 1/3 innings while striking out 20 strikeouts. He recorded five saves with Joel Hanrahan on the disabled list.

Breslow, who was recovering from left shoulder tendonitis, will be on the active roster from the first time in 2013. The left-hander made one appearance in Portland before making four appearances in Pawtucket.
