It appears that Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk won’t face a suspension from the NHL as a result of the devastating hit he laid on Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews during Saturday’s Game 5 in Chicago.

According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, the league has reviewed Boychuk’s hit and decided that it did not warrant a disciplinary ruling. Boychuk himself stated after the game that he believed it was a legal hit. It would appear that the league agrees with his sentiment.

Toews did not play in the third period of Chicago’s 3-1 win of the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday night after the hit. His status for Game 6 on Monday night in Boston is unknown. There was no penalty called on the play.
