Matt Light “never embraced” Aaron Hernandez

Although you probably won’t hear any current Patriots players commenting on the ongoing Aaron Hernandez murder case, former Patriots offensive lineman Matt Light spoke out about Hernandez in a newspaper interview this week…and he didn’t have many nice things to say.

In an interview with Tom Archdeacon of the Dayton Daily News, Light was asked about his thoughts on the former Patriots tight end, his teammate for two seasons in New England.

“I have never embraced — never believed in — anything Aaron Hernandez stood for.”

[/pullquote]“I never talk about other guys, but I will say I have never embraced — never believed in — anything Aaron Hernandez stood for,” Light said.

Light also confirmed that Hernandez rarely spent time off the field with his Patriots teammates, saying he “always had his own agenda – and it wasn’t a good one.”

For a guy like Light, who gained a reputation for being quiet, reserved guy and a great teammate in New England, these comments aren’t very common. Like he said, he rarely ever talks negatively about other players, so it’s interesting that he’s seen enough in Hernandez to make him speak out about the 23-year old.
