Celtics Director of Basketball Development and assistant coach Tyronn Lue will be leaving the team to join Doc Rivers’ coaching staff with the Los Angeles Clippers, several sources reported Thursday morning.

Lue, a former point guard and first round pick, has been on Doc Rivers’ coaching staff in Boston since 2009 and has helped develop Boston’s young players, especially guards Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley.
Personally, I believed Lue would have made a solid candidate for the vacant spot Rivers left at the head of the Celtics’ bench, but it appears that the Celtics are looking to hire either Brian Shaw, Vinny Del Negro, or Lionel Hollins as their next head coach.
Regardless, Lue will land a head coaching gig in the league eventually.
