Brian Scalabrine named assistant coach for Golden State Warriors

Brian Scalabrine’s fascinating career as an NBA enigma on the court is over, but his coaching career in pro basketball is just getting started.

The 35-year old Scalabrine was named an assistant coach of the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, news broken by Golden State head coach Mark Jackson on Twitter.

Scalabrine was offered a similar position with the Chicago Bulls, the team “White Mamba” finished his playing career with, last offseason but turned it down in favor of a Celtics broadcasting gig with Comcast SportsNet New England.

Scalabrine played 11 NBA seasons, five with the Boston Celtics. He won an NBA title with the Celts in 2008.
