With the Celtics-Nets trade that will send Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Jason Terry to Brooklyn becoming official today, the Celtics took out a full page ad in Friday’s Boston Globe to thank Pierce and KG.

The ad features a photo of Pierce holding his 2008 NBA Finals MVP Trophy and Garnett with the Larry O’Brien Trophy with a thank you message above the two players:

“Thank You, For your heart. For your passion. For your sacrifice. For playing through pain. For bleeding green. For honoring tradition. For an amazing ride. For restoring Celtics pride. For Banner 17.”

The C’s and Nets agreed to the trade during the 2013 NBA Draft but the deal couldn’t become official until today because of NBA offseason timetables. The Celtics receive three first-round picks, Gerald Wallace’s three-year/$30 million contract, Kris Joseph, MarShon Brooks, Keith Bogans, and Kris Humphries’ expiring contract in return for the veterans.

Here’s a higher-res image of the ad:

That’s what Cleveland Cavaliers didn’t do to LeBron and I wonder how they feel right now. They don’t care.
