Possible lifetime ban for Alex Rodriguez

After the first Biogenesis domino fell in the form of Ryan Braun’s season long suspension, rumors are starting to fly that the next player in line is none other than A-Rod. And if those rumors hold true, he could be facing a life-time ban.

According to CBS Evening News’ Jim Axelrod , an MLB source confirmed that the Yankees third baseman is likely to face the life-time ban. ESPN on the other hand is reporting that the ban will end up being more in the Braun range. CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman has a report of his own saying that the punishment will be at least 50 games. So which one will it be? It’s all just a guess at this point.

As if the rumors regarding his suspension wasn’t enough, there are also conflicting stories on whether Rodriquez will cut a deal to save himself from a massive suspension. USA today’s Bob Nightengale claims that two persons who are close to Rodriquez say that he will not negotiate a deal and that he would appeal any suspension dealt to him. Other reports say that he will try to limit the suspension and go the Braun route.

What have we learned from all of these reports? Either the MLB is messing with the media and throwing out random numbers or no one has any idea what is actually going on. I’ll bet on the latter.
