Bob Burnquist slams face during Big Air, severely breaks nose

The 2013 Summer X Games kicked off last night in Los Angeles and one of the most anticipated events of the first day is always Skateboard Big Air.

Bob Burnquist, a Big Air legend who entered the night looking for a third straight Gold in the event, wound up suffering the first scary injury of this year’s games. During one of his runs on Thursday night, Burnquist failed an attempt on the quarter pipe and wound up crashing hard to the ground below, slamming his face off ramp.

The slam left Burnquist dazed and suffering from a severely broken nose. Despite an obvious amount of pain, the 36-year old vet cleaned himself up and returned to the ramp and wound up taking home a bronze medal.
