Jason Heyward takes 90 MPH fastball to the face, resulting in broken jaw

A scary moment arose in the sixth inning of Wednesday afternoon’s Mets-Braves game when Jason Heyward got hit in the face with a 90 MPH from Jonathan Niese. Heyward immediately went down after getting struck and was tended to by medical personnel. He was reportedly spitting blood and taken to a local area hospital for further examination.

To make matters worse, his grandparents were in attendance watching it all unfold.

Always hate to see stuff like this. Hope Heyward is alright and makes a full recovery.

UPDATE: Heyward has a broken jaw and will be out 4-6 weeks. Really unfortunate news but I guess it could have been worse.
