According to the Los Angeles Times, Bruno Mars is expected to headline the Super Bowl XLVIII Half-Time show. Nothing has been confirmed from the NFL or Fox about the performer playing the half time show, but a spokesperson from the NFL did say “Janet Jackson and Miley Cyrus have been ruled out as performers.” Sorry friends, no nip slips or awkward twerking at this year’s half-time show. An official announcement could come as early as tomorrow, September 8.
Mars is having a huge year with multiple hit songs and an arena tour that is selling out at almost every venue. It makes sense to have a a popular act like Bruno Mars especially because his shows involve so much dancing, big band, and incredible visuals. Even though I’m not a fan of his music, I feel like it’ll be a very entertaining show since Mars models his act so much after James Brown and other soul singers.
This year’s Super Bowl will take place at in New Jersey at the Giants’ MetLife Stadium. New Jersey locals, Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi, have either already played or are going through band issues (don’t leave Richie!).
