Sports fans in Northeast Ohio have longed for a weekend like we just witnessed. The Cleveland Indians won out to clinch the playoffs for the first time…in well…forever! They will now wait for the winner of the Rays and Rangers so they can get their postseason action underway.
In football, the Cleveland Browns won their second straight game, this time over a division rival Bengals team that was coming off a big win at home against the Packers. Brian Hoyer has pumped life back into a sputtering Browns offense that couldn’t move the ball down the field with Brandon Weeden at the helm. Hoyer has a faster release, throws more accurately, and makes better decisions than Weeden. When Weeden gets healthy, don’t expect him to replace Hoyer at quarterback. If he does, the Dawgpound will make Bottlegate look like a tea party compared to what they’ll do when Weeden runs out onto the field. The Browns now sit in a three way tie with the Ravens and Bengals for the division lead. Back to back wins for the Browns is something to celebrate as of late, but top that off with the rest of the AFC North losing their games this weekend and you have yourself a perfect NFL Sunday in Cleveland.
