The World Series got off to rough start for Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright. Before Game 1 even started, the 6’7 Wainwright learned the hard way that Fenway Park’s dugouts are not cater to tall pitchers.
Then, his defense blew an opportunity to turn an inning-ending double play in the first inning. The next batter cleared the bases with a 3 RBI double.
The next inning, Wainwright fell victim to some more bad defense…this time, however, he only had himself to blame.
It appears that Wainwright momentarily forgot how to baseball.
Wainwright’s final Game 1 line: 5 IP, 6 H, 5 R (3 ER) in a losing effort.
