Alright, alright fine…THIS is the most embarrassing goal of the NHL season

Just moments after the Tampa Bay Lightning scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period of last night’s game against the Blackhawks, Bolts defenseman Matt Carle inexplicably fired a pass backwards towards unsuspecting teammate Radko Gudas. Carle’s pass ricocheted off Gudas’ skate, through the legs of Tampa goaltender Ben Bishop and into the net for the equalizer with less than two minutes to go in regulation.

It was an own goal so horribly bad that it should let Jonathan Quick and Jonathan Bernier off the hook for ‘Worst NHL Goal of the Year.’

Fortunately for Tampa, they managed to skate away with the win in overtime.
