Another day, another player stretchered off the ice in the NHL

Is it just me, or does it seem like the number of extremely dirty hits are at an all-time high in the NHL? Just a few days after we witnessed an unconscious Dan Boyle get stretchered off the ice there was a similar incident in Colorado. This time the perpetrator was Cody McCleod who drove Niklas Kronwall’s head into the boards as the Red Wings defenseman had his back to the Avalanche forward.

McCleod has been summoned to meet with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety in-person which means a lengthy suspension is in the works.
