Carlos Beltran robs David Ortiz of a grand slam during Game 1

During the second inning of Game 1 of the World Series, Carlos Beltran managed to do what Torii Hunter couldn’t during the ALCS – rob David Ortiz of a potential game-altering grand slam over Fenway’s bullpen wall. Beltran’s catch wasn’t quite as difficult as Hunter’s but it was a tough catch nonetheless and seemed to be the one thing to go right for the Cardinals up ’til that point.

Alas, it wasn’t all great for the Cards. Not only did a Sox runner tag up and score on the play, Beltran hurt himself on the play and had to be removed from the game with a right rib contusion.
