Brian Wilson won’t negotiate with the Yankees because of his beard

Brian Wilson’s beard has grown into a beast of epic proportions over the past few years and the reliever has no plans to kill that beast any time soon – even if it means that he has to turn down a team bidding for his services.

With Wilson currently a free agent, the Yankees and GM Brian Cashman reached out to the pitcher’s agent to inquire about adding him to their bullpen. Unfortunately for the Yankees, their strict policy against facial hair has killed any negotiations before they’ve even begun.

I guess this shouldn’t come as a huge shocker considering Wilson turned down $1 million from a razor company to shave the beard earlier this year. With that kind of dedication to facial hair, Wilson might fit in well in Boston.

Any shave request by NYY would’ve been a test.

Agreeing to the new look would’ve given indication Wilson was going to get serious again about his primary job, relief pitching. Alas, now he can keep the kid-beard, keep flexing in the mirror and watch his list of suitors dwindle. Your agent might’ve told you, Brian, only rostered wing-nuts get the Taco Bell® gigs.

Oh yeah, right back at ya,’ Shrimpy (“Pete Blackburn…hater of tall people”).
