Steven Stamkos suffers brutal leg injury after collision with net

Steven Stamkos, currently tied for the most goals in the NHL, suffered this brutal leg injury during the second period of Monday’s Lightning-Bruins matinee in Boston. Stamkos gets knocked off his feet and slides into the Lightning goalpost and his right leg looks to snap at the shin.

Stamkos tried to skate off immediately after collision but collapsed to the ice in an extreme amount of pain. He appeared to mouth “it’s broken” to the the Lightning trainers who came to his aid on the ice before eventually being stretchered off and taken to the hospital.

Awful, awful, awful.

Here’s the injury in GIF form, click at your own discretion.

UPDATE: It’s reportedly a broken tibia for Stamkos.

This is sickening. The state of journalism today makes me wonder if free speech was ever a good idea. So thanks Pete Blackburn, you’re the poster boy for the massacre of free speech.

  • Mr. Blackburn

Good lord this sickens me. Stamkos had a horrifying accident and here you are trying to turn it into pageviews for yourself. Get back under your bridge and terrorize some more billy goats you troll.

Feel really bad. He’s a huge loss to hockey. Almost reminded me of Gil Perrault of Sabres against the Islanders.
