Let’s watch minor league hockey fans throw 26,000 teddy bears onto the ice

The “Teddy Bear Toss” is becoming quite a popular (and successful) promotion amongst AHL teams during the holidays. Several teams around the league host a toss each year, asking fans in attendance to bring stuffed animals and throw them onto the ice after the home team’s first goal. Then, those toys are collected by team staff and given to children in need for the holidays.

A year ago, the Calgary Hitmen ran the promotion and fans wound up producing 25,000 presents for kids. This year, those same Calgary fans were able to raise the bar once again with 25,921 bears. Check out the video below.

That is just awesome, amazed at how long that went on for. Much more memorable and useful than hats for a hattrick. At least this is for a great cause, would be amazing if this made its way to the NHL.
