1. Chicago Blackhawks (20-4-4, 44 Points) Last Week: 3

The Hawks have jumped out to a five point lead in the stacked Central Division despite playing their last seven contests in the oppositions arena. In this past week alone they went 4-0-0, outscoring their opponents 14-6, and possibly found a viable backup goalie option in 24 year old Antti Raanta who won both of his starts.

2. St. Louis Blues (18-4-3, 39 Points) Last Week: 1

Two of the Blues four regulation losses have come to the San Jose Sharks. In both of those games they allowed six goals and were forced to pull the starter after they had given up four goals. So I guess the key to St. Louis’ success is just to try and stay away from San Jose from now on.

3. San Jose Sharks (18-3-5, 41 Points) Last Week: 4

After receiving a Grade A beating via Chicago on November 17th the Sharks have yet to lose a game (5-0-0). So whats the root cause of the success? The return of reformed caveman Brent Burns. Since coming back from injury the d-man turned forward has six points in five games and posted a hat trick against the Blues.

4. Colorado Avalanche (19-6-0, 38 Points) Last Week: 2

Remember how I said the St. Louis Blues should stay away from the Sharks? Well the Avalanche should probably keep their distance from the Blues. In the teams two meetings against one another the Blues have outscored the Avalanche 11-4 despite Colorado out-shooting St. Louis 64-50.

5. Boston Bruins (18-7-2, 38 Points) Last Week: 5

The 6-1 shellacking that Detroit bestowed upon Boston was horrific, but it could have been so much worse. The Bruins could only muster 17 shots and looked out of sorts for the entire 60 minutes. The good news is that they bounced back nicely with wins against the Rangers and Blue Jackets to close out the week on a high note.
