Teammates Dion Phaneuf and Phil Kessel have an inexplicable and hilarious collision


Dion Phaneuf landed a brutal and highly illegal hit on Kevan Miller late in the third period of Sunday’s Leafs game against the Bruins, but he did manage to flatten somebody with a clean hit earlier in the game.

Unfortunately for Phaneuf, that somebody was Phil Kessel, his own teammate.

Phaneuf and Kessel combined for this hilarious blooper during a second period line change in Toronto during the Bruins 5-2 win. It’s hard to know what exactly went wrong here considering Kessel has his head up and directed towards Phaneuf the whole time, but sometimes it’s impossible to explain Maple Leafs hockey.
