Here’s the “controversial” first teaser for ‘The Tonight Show’ with Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon is getting ready to take his well-earned seat behind the desk of The Tonight Show next month, and NBC has rolled out a promo for the passing of the torch.

While it’s a pretty solid promo, there’s one big problem: It tries to pretend that Jay Leno was never replaced with Conan O’Brien in 2009, then given back his job in 2010 when Conan didn’t work out.

The teaser acknowledges the history of hosts behind the desk, – a succession of graphics lists the famous names: Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Conan O’Brien, Jay Leno -  but does its very hardest to avoid mentioning Conan at all. Can’t really blame them, I guess….that whole situation was a mess. I wouldn’t want to remind people of that either.

Regardless, it’s an exciting time for The Tonight Show…Fallon will be a huuuuuuuuge upgrade over Leno.
