Zack Kassian, mocker of face shields, takes a skate to the face

You remember Zack Kassian of the Vancouver Canucks, right? He’s the guy who broke the jaw of Edmonton Oilers forward Sam Gagner with a high stick this preseason, then later taunted Gagner for wearing a protective face shield.

Well, on Sunday night Kassian probably wished he was the one who had a little bit of facial protection, as he took a skate to the face from teammate Tom Sestito during the Canucks’ overtime loss against the red-hot Ducks.

Kassian left the game and didn’t return but, luckily, he narrowly missed suffering a catastrophic injury and is expected to return soon. He may want to reconsider mocking face shields in the future, though.
