Earlier today the Bruins placed 27 year old Chris Bourque on waivers after he racked up just one goal and three assists through 18 games and a differential of -6. The team had been patient with Bourque, giving him a healthy scratch on Sunday against the Canadiens and earlier in the season against the Sabres on January 31st.
Bourque had been splitting time between the third and fourth line during his time in Boston and showed some promise on the power play. “He was basically the quarterback in Providence of the power play. They’d give him the puck, he would set things up and he was making some great plays. Some guys have that natural knack and he’s starting to show it here,” said coach Claude Julien earlier in the season about Bourque’s natural abilities.
With Bourque now out of the line up, it is expected that newcomer Jay Pandolfo will see more time on the ice tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Anton Khudobin is also expected to be in goal for the Bruins.
