The Celtics called up rookie big man Fab Melo from the Maine Red Claws on Wednesday, and CSSNE’s Kyle Draper reported that it was so Melo could receive treatment for a concussion…one that he suffered from running into a hotel room door.
No word on exactly when the door assaulted Melo, but the seven-footer did say he smacked the top of his head (not his forehead) on the hinge of a double door. Could it have been a New Years Eve celebration gone wrong? God, I hope so.
Doc refers to Fab’s concussion incident to a ‘Manny being Manny’ moment. Says we’ll have some ‘Fab being Fab’ moments in the future.

It isn’t a huge secret that Fab isn’t exactly the brightest bulb in the flashlight, but this is the kind of stuff you have to leave behind you when you’re trying to prove yourself as a young guy in the NBA. Maybe it’s just me, but I kind of want my future center to have enough awareness to locate doorways.
Prior to being headhunted by inanimate objects, Melo was putting together a solid string of games in Maine. Since being sent to the D-League in mid-November, Melo was averaging 10.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.8 blocks per game.
